The Hike

Hiking on the Ptarmigan Trail to the Overlook

This is a beautiful little hike that is easily accessible from Silverthorne, Colorado. The toughest part of the hike is the first 1/2 mile, which is fairly steep and completely exposed. But even this part of the trail has its perks as it has a plethora of beautiful wildflowers to stop and look at.

After the steep climb, you will slowly descend and traverse through wildflowers, meadows, and trees until you begin a slow climb up the mountain through aromatic Pine and Aspen trees. Along the way you will cross a few streams and find plenty of places to stop and grab a snack, we really liked sitting alongside the streams.

At the end of this trail you will find a few benches to sit and rest on as you look out over the amazing valley below. It is truly a fantastic view and one you should be sure to sit back and take a few minutes to enjoy.
