A touch over 10 years ago I almost died in a high-speed collision involving my scooter and someone else’s car. And ever since that day I have celebrated what my family and I call, Alive Day!
Alive Day has turned into a kind of New Year’s Day for me. A time to reflect on my life, think about what’s important to me, evaluate what I’m doing with my time and the direction that I’m moving in, etc. And it has also become a day for my family to celebrate that we are alive and how fantastic that is.
During my evaluation this year I began to think about this blog and wonder why I’m not more motivated to write on it (I’m sure you’ve noticed the extended vacation I’ve taken from it recently). And I came up with the idea that it’s because I’m trying to be someone I’m not.
I started this blog because I thought it might be a good way to build a business that I could do on my own terms from home. And because I wanted it to make money, I decided to closely copy the style of a successful blog that I knew made a lot of money.
And that’s where I went wrong. While I was only copying the style of the other blog (definitely not the content or even the subjects covered), I felt that the only reason I was writing was to make money. And that just really rubs me the wrong way.
So Ignite Adventure is going to be taking a whole new direction. Instead of focusing on making money, we are going to be focusing on helping you spend more awesome time with your friends and family. Helping you to find ways to be happier. Sharing cool things we learn to help enrich your life and the lives of those you’re closest to. And if you know cool things that are super useful, please share them with us so we can all learn and grow together.
And hopefully Ignite Adventure will become one of the most useful sites out there and will help all of us become a little happier and more closely connected.
Love, Adventure Mom
